ECOSYSTEM UPDATES
Shapella, the first major update since the Merge is scheduled to take place on 14 April
The Ethereum Shapella upgrade is nearing completion and will allow for withdrawals of staked ether on the network for the first time. This upgrade comes after the activation of The Merge, which successfully reduced Ethereum’s energy consumption and emissions rate. The only remaining issue at hand is withdrawals, which will be available immediately after the upgrade.
With this upgrade, the network will have completed its transition to proof of stake. The version includes the Ethereum Improvement Proposal 4895, which enables validator staking withdrawals, and additional specifications to optimize transaction fees for certain activities.
